This is authentic as authentic Mexican food gets. The menu is entirely in Spanish with lots of traditional Mexican staples. The food here leans toward heavy fried meat - delicious but nowhere near healthy. Highly recommend for a tasty Mexican meal but not so much for people watching their waistlines. Excellent Mexican place in Colorado Springs.

Mannnnnn I almost don’t wanna review this place because I don’t want it to get busier than it already is🤣 El Amigo is so damn good and might be the best Mexican fast food spot in the Springs. I have had their carne asada, Al pastor, carnitas, birria, consome, and all their salsa and you can’t go wrong they are ALL good. Definitely the best Birria I’ve had in this city and possibly the best beans and rice as well. 100000% recommend

I feel sorry for all the stoned drunks that kept barreling in and parking at obtuse angles thinking this place is anything especial. Now, why should we? It’s on Platte right? A street you get the munchies on just by driving through it. I probably should have gone with the Birria tacos, which everyone talks about but when I walked in, there was a PrintShopPro 3.0 sign special for a Chili Relleno with beans and rice for 9 bucks. Sure why not? I figure if you can do that right you can probably do anything right. But I figured wrong. So what is interesting is the seemingly-gallon oversized Coronas that I’ve never seen before. Lime on top, CHECK. That was kind of cool. Now every time the door would open it would smell like Mexican oregano. But really it was just the people that reeked of cannabis. You know when you eat something and you smell something it tastes like that thing? Well. Yeah. I took some pictures of other things that were interesting because the food is not. I thought their red and green sauce was just OK and the habanero was in this little bottle hinting maybe this would melt my tongue off. Or at least have that signature pungent citrus-y punch? Nope. Platte’s ketchup people, Platte ketchup. And yes, I am an ex-Californian who got out many years ago and for all of you that wanted to dis me, you can just shut up because I’ve been paying property taxes to El Paso county since before most of you were even born. Will keep exploring your recommendations. I’ve heard this is gold in them thar hills.

Some of the best tacos I have had in Colorado Springs. The birria tacos are crunchy and have awesome flavor, and the consome elevates the experience. I had an al pastor taco and it was ok, had decent flavor. I had a barbacoa taco and it was very dry bit tasted good. All the tacos are stuffed with meat making them a great value. My wife had the menudo and she said it was ok. I tried the horchata, it was too sweet and made with less milk (maybe none). The salsas are provided for your tacos: green, red, and habenero. The habenero was our favorite since it had spice and good flavor. Great hours and friendly staff. Will definitely come back for those birria tacos!

I ordered some Birria tacos and they were delicious! Nicely well packed with meat. Clean meat. Delicious and well worth the tacos! The food was served quickly. Atmosphere is nice and chill with mexican music.
